Our commitment

Cycling as a path to independence.

La Pause du Cycliste is not only a place to rent bikes and experience Lake Kivu. It is also part of a broader vision: to train, to pass on knowledge, and to create opportunities for young people in Karongi.

Discover Amasaro Project

A local, human and professional project

Through Amasaro Project, young people — especially young women — are supported through hands-on bicycle mechanics training, complemented by a transition phase toward employment: languages, customer care, discipline, confidence, and professional standards.

Learn a profession

Participants discover the foundations of bicycle mechanics, maintenance, repair, and how to operate a professional workshop.

Build confidence

Training goes beyond technical skills: punctuality, communication, customer interaction and responsibility are part of the journey.

Prepare for employment

The goal is to help young people gradually enter the workforce with practical skills and a strong professional mindset.

Why this connection with La Pause du Cycliste?

La Pause du Cycliste was born from the same intention: using cycling as a tool for connection, discovery, and local development.

The experiences offered to visitors help sustain a growing cycling ecosystem in Karongi. Over time, this ecosystem becomes a space for learning, practice, and real opportunities for the young people trained through Amasaro Project.

By choosing La Pause du Cycliste, you indirectly support a local dynamic that goes beyond tourism — a more human way to discover Rwanda, while contributing to the future and skills of its youth.
